L’art de la mosaïque / Art of mosaic

Faites de la mosaïque à partir de carreaux ou d’assiettes cassées, ajoutez de la pâte de verre, des cabochons et autres débris esthétiques, mettez à niveau en jouant avec l’épaisseur de colle.

Et si l’on imprimait à la machine à pâtes ? / And if we were printing with a pasta machine ?

Un crayon à papier, du papier à dessin,  des barquettes à viande en polystyrène, un rouleau en caoutchouc, des encres pour la linogravure ou de la peinture acrylique, une machine à pâtes et le tour est joué !

  1. Découpez le fond des barquettes en plaques de 8,5cm x 11,5cm, le papier en morceaux de 11cm x 13 cm.
  2. Préparez un dessin, posez-le sur la plaque et transférez-le en pressant légèrement avec la pointe du crayon à papier.
  3. Ôtez le dessin et repassez au crayon sur les traits en appuyant pour bien creuser les sillons. Vous pouvez aussi utiliser la pointe d’un stylo bille.
  4. Réglez l’écartement des rouleaux lisses de la machine en plaçant la plaque gravée + le papier entre les rouleaux. Il y a une molette sur la côté de la machine qui permet d’écarter plus ou moins les rouleaux.
  5. Encrez la plaque avec un rouleau en caoutchouc. Vous pouvez utiliser des encres pour linogravure ou de la peinture acrylique. Personnellement, je préfère les encres.
  6. Passez l’ensemble dans la machine. Et voilà, votre première impression est terminée. Pourquoi ne pas recommencer ?

A pencil, some drawing paper, a brayer, printing inks or acrylic paints, a few polystyrene meat containers, a pasta machine and voila your first print is almost done !

  1. Cut out the base of the meat containers into pieces of 8,5cm x 11,5cm (3 1/2  » x 4 1/2″), the paper into rectangles of 11cm x 13 cm (4 1/2″ x 5 1/2″).
  2. Prepare your design, put it on top of one piece of polystyrene and transfer it by pressing the end of the pencil onto the lines.
  3. Discard the design and press the lines again with the pencil. You can also use a ballpoint.
  4. Adjust the flat roll gauges of the machine to the thickness of the polystyrene and paper. You will find a rotary knob on one side of the machine to do that.
  5. Ink your brayer and plate. You can use inks for linocut or acrylic paint. Personnaly I prefer inks.
  6. Cover the inked plate with the paper. Slip them together between the two rollers. Turn the pasta machine crank… and voila ! You made your first impression, why not make another one ?

Be strong-what David sees.. What i see (By David « the guy with the 3d printer ») :


I see a sad/ angry girl. I see a plane. I see a bird upside down. I can read the phrase: be strong. Also the color blue
For me this is a depiction of a long distance relationship. The girl is sad/ angry because she cant be in that plane with her lover. Here joy is gone as the bird is upside down. For me birds are a simbol of joy. Now the phrase be strong is directed to the couple in general. The girl has to be strong and accept that the lover is away. The lover is probably the one who sees the picture in his head and has to reassure himself, that despite the girl is suffering she loves him.

Le prochain Marche des Arts se tient square de la Bourse à Mulhouse samedi 8 août.
Très bien organisée et très conviviale, cette manifestation est un plaisir pour les yeux et… les oreilles. Il y a un piano et de la musique toute la journée. Nous vous attendons entre 10 h et 19 h. Venez nombreux !

Next Art Market will take place in Mulhouse – square de la Bourse – next saturday 8 August.
